Dandelions

Contrary to popular belief, dandelions are not an annual, but a very hardy perennial.

Their strong taproot penetrates two to three feet deep into the soil and the above ground rosette reappears each spring.

The dandelion has a yellow blossom. It is the most easily recognized of all turf weeds.

The dandelion's long, narrow leaves are variously lobed or serrated.

The tips or points of these lobes are usually opposite each other and point back toward the center of the rosette.

Yellow blossoms soon mature into round, white puffballs which are full of seeds.

These seeds are carried many miles by the wind, and a single plant can serve as a continuous source of undesireable infestation.
